Breed registries disallow pointed patterns in most other breeds. Many other breeds of pointed cats are now accepted by cat registries, including Ragdoll, Ragamuffin, Birman, Exotic, Balinese, and Javanese. The original pointed cat was the Siamese, and many years later, the Himalayan was developed by crossing Siamese with Persian cats. Points or Pointed Markings: "Points," or darker shades of the body color, generally include the ears, muzzle, tail, and feet of the cat.Other bi-colors might include gray and white, brown and white, or red and white. A black and white cat might be better described as bi-color if the colors are present in large blocks on the cat's body rather than the "bib and boots" pattern. Bi-Color: Bi-colored cats may include tuxedos, as well as other configurations on one color plus white.Tuxedo: Tuxedo cats were so named for their glossy black coats, enhanced with white bibs and "spats," (less flamboyantly described as white feet). It should be noted that white plays a very small role in the tortoiseshell pattern most of the color weaving is done with the red and black components. Like the tabby, some torties may also have white accent markings, creating a "tortie with white." They also sometimes have an interesting mix of tortoiseshell, with a bonus of tabby patterning mixed throughout. Tortoiseshell cats may also be dilute, with softer versions of the colors. Instead of solid blocks, torties' coats weave the black and red throughout, creating a tapestry of color. Tortoiseshell AKA "Tortie": Torties are not true tri-color cats because they do not all contain white.A dilute calico will have pale orange or buff for the red, and gray (or "blue") for the black. "faded" shades of the original, which gives them an ethereal appearance. Dilute calicos, have the same separate blocks of color, only the colors are "diluted," i.e. They also may have blocks of tabby pattern, which produces an extremely colorful and beautiful cat. ![]()

![]() I use its Story Arc feature where I can isolate a particular beat or beats or, for that matter, look at any kind of arc I want to, such as the main character’s transformation across all seven novels. I can plot the entire series in one place and, using the software, ensure I don’t have plot holes and that I’m hitting my story beats effectively - in my case, I’m using the Save the Cat! Writes a Novel approach. The whole story (not counting the backstory) takes place in seven years. In my case, I do have a bit more complexity, as my main character ages one year per novel. I know that this was a bit rhetorical but honestly, I’d use it for a single novel that takes place in a smaller unit of time. I do not agree with the comment that we’d have to have a novel series that lasts over a hundred years. ![]() In my case, I was plotting in under an hour and after a few days, I feel I’ve mastered it. Sure, like any good plotting software (including Plottr, which I previously used), it takes some time to get to use it. I can move things around or make writing changes in either program. I actually have both programs open when I write. The Narrative view syncs perfectly with Scrivener in both directions, so changes in Scrivener are reflected in Aeon Timeline, and vice versa. I’m writing my first novel (as part of a multi-novel YA fantasy series) and I’m loving it. ![]() Third, and most amazing, they’ve provided a Narrative view where you can place events in your story out of time sequence, and even omit some events (such as backstory) if you want. Second, once you do assign dates, you can lock the dates to prevent accidental changes. In version 3, they’ve solved the issue with dates changing, in three powerful ways:įirst, in the Spreadsheet view you can enter items without assigning them dates - and simply drag them to where they would fall in your story. I suspect the comment was about version 2. My experience as a new user (I’ve had it a week and a half) has been entirely positive, with one exception that I’ll mention at the end. I was a little surprised to see a pretty unflattering description of Aeon Timeline. Its very good for individuals whose basic character is 1) patient, 2) willing to master a steep learning curve, 3) willing to make a serious study of the details in the software, AND, who have a novel series that lasts over one hundred years. The good news is that the guys who devised the software tinker with it, update it, and ask users for feedback. The Aeon Inspector is like the Scriveners Inspector. Consequently, the terminology they use is not necessarily fiction-friendly.Īnd, for reasons that surpass understanding, a term called “property” in the master setup part of a project is called “value” in the Inspector part of a project. In other words, at the moment, it is not possible to set a firm date for an event and trust that it will remain solid when other items are added.Īlso, the designers created it for a wide array of uses. I have used Aeon Timeline for several years and its nice when the project is not too complicated.įor example, while it is a timeline, unless the user is marvelously aware and careful, the dates change. The time line produce is a separate software called Aeon Timeline. Say you’re writing a historical novel and you want to lay out the actual historical timeline next to your story, simple create documents in your research folder for each event you want on the timeline, and label them something like “historical.” ![]() Even the color will change automatically. If you move a card around (say from one timeline to another, or to a spot earlier or later in the story) it will move accordingly in your binder. To do that, click the little icon that looks like 4 note cards in a square formation, them adjust as you like: I like my little laptop screen, but I know some writers work on big ‘ol screens, and this feature works for both. You can change the size and spacing of the cards which really helps a writer see all their cards in whatever space they happen to have. The issue more so comes up when you are trying to use multiple external monitors.ĭP MST is DisplayPort Multi-stream. This is such an odd limitation because the display should always receive 4K signal (5120x2880 downscaled to 3840x2160) so why would scaling matter? So it seems that as long as the framebuffer is 3840x2160, HDR is available, but at those fractional scaling levels it renders at e.g 5120x2880 and then high refresh rate no longer works for HDR. HDMI 2.1 is capable of 4K 144 Hz without DSC while DP 1.4 is limited to 4K 120 Hz. This seems to come down to Display Stream Support - which is nearly guaranteed to be broken unless using an Apple display. These are the results using Samsung G70A.ĮDIT 2: Added DP vs HDMI difference. The built-in display even switches scaling instantly without first resetting the display.ĮDIT: Investigated further. I can set it to any scaling level and HDR just works, even with an external displays connected. Meanwhile the built-in display on the Macbook Pro does not suffer from these issues. I can plug literally the same cables to my desktop PC and any scaling level gives me full 4K 120/144 Hz with 10-bit, 4:4:4 color and HDR! This is just mad behavior! You don't have this sort of issue on Windows at all where scaling is somehow tied to HDR support. Same deal if I set to native 3840x2160.īut if I instead scale to "looks like 2560x1440" or "looks like 3200x1800" then HDR toggle just disappears completely. If I set either of these 4K screens to 1:1 scaling or "looks like 1920x1080", HDR becomes available. What I found out was that scaling level has an effect on whether HDR works or not. I wanted to try HDR on this display as well as my LG CX 4K OLED TV (which of course has far superior HDR to the G70A). So I was excited to see that the HDMI port on my M2 Max could deliver 4K 144 Hz on my Samsung G70A, though it defaulted to 8-bit color despite the display being capable of 10-bit. I know this is not even consistent between display models as some work at 4K 120 Hz. On MacOS I would only get either a blank screen or have to use HDMI with the display limited to HDMI 2.0 specs. Plug same DP cable or adapter into a PC and 4K 144 Hz works, so 100% issue with Mac. 4K 144 Hz display only showing image at 4K 60 Hz.I received a Macbook Pro 16" M2 Max recently and hoped that this would finally solve the issues I had been having on a 2019 Intel model when using external displays. ![]() These devices are a worthwhile investment for reptile breeders. Incubators can be a bit expensive, but they are an essential part of breeding snakes at home. Put them into the egg box as they are, together. If some of your snake eggs are stuck together while you incubate them at home, do not attempt to separate them. If the egg gets turned over, the snake embryo may be accidentally crushed by the yolk. Unlike chicken eggs, snake eggs do not have structures to anchor the yolk. It is vital for the wellbeing of the hatchling that snake eggs remain in an upright position. These sticky eggs also are unlikely to turn over accidentally. Even if the mother snake is not around, it is difficult for a predator to eat an individual egg when they are all stuck together. The eggs all stay in one place so that a brooding female python can protect them all at once. The stickiness keeps the eggs from rolling away, and it also keeps them together and warm. ![]() In the wild, sticky eggs are an advantage. If you are incubating python eggs, then you may find that some of the snake eggs are stuck together. Still, make sure that the eggs will not roll around when you move the box, and be sure that the eggs are not touching each other. A good tip for this is to first mark the top of the eggs with a marker, so you don’t forget which way they were oriented after you move them.ĭo not bury the eggs into the incubation medium. You likely already know that you need an incubator, but there is another tool for incubating snake eggs which is necessary right at the start: an egg box. Here are some simple steps to follow when you incubate snake eggs at home – from getting the egg box ready, to setting up the incubator, to finally hatching your eggs. ![]() However, it is not an overly complicated process. Incubating snake eggs at home requires diligence and care. If you are breeding your own snake eggs, incubating the eggs at home gives them the best chance at developing into healthy baby snakes. But to make sure that the eggs have the right environment for hatching, you need an incubator. If you are breeding certain species of python, you may have success at hatching baby snakes when you leave them with the mother snake. Pythons will brood their eggs, wrapping themselves around the clutch to keep them safe and warm. However, it does not stick around to make sure that the environment remains appropriate for the eggs’ development. ![]() This is often a decomposing log or pile of leaves. The female snake will find a warm, humid location for the eggs in the wild. In most species of snake, the female will simply lay the eggs and then go on about her business, without actively brooding the clutch of eggs at all. Snakes come together to mate, and that’s about it. However, with most snake species, this is not the case. If you are new to snake breeding, you may assume that mother snakes already incubate their eggs. 1.2 What If The Eggs Don’t Hatch? Why Incubate Snake Eggs Yourself? |
